The Detroit Lions continue to earn respect around the NFL.

My people are telling me that the Lions might play as many as five prime time football games in the 2023 season. This remains a fluid situation, but the NFL has told the Lions they are up for five prime time games.

That means we get to see the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Monday or Thursday nights. The interest in the Lions peaked after the team went 8-2 down the stretch and knocked Green Bay out of playoff contention the final week of the season.

Lion’s nation is not the only one anticipating a stellar Lions season. The NFL is also.

The schedule makers do not have the Lions playing the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany. The NFL wants to schedule that game for the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. That would be a competitive disadvantage for the Lions because they are likely to arrive late Monday night or Tuesday morning from Europe.

The Chiefs will play the Chicago Bears instead.
