The Detroit Pistons and Golden State Warriors have discussed a trade involving Saddiq Bey and James Wiseman, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. “Moses Moody and others” were also included in the talks as confirmed by James Edwards of the Athletic, but nothing imminent.

Bey and Wiseman are on two different ends of the spectrum. Bey has found his NBA footing, while Wiseman is still a project and figuring things out. Troy Weaver has been intrigued by Wiseman since the 2020 NBA Draft, but that the Warriors may be more interested in Bey than the Pistons are with potential returns. Which by my estimation is a good thing as this deal wouldn’t make the Detroit Pistons better today.
A move like this would bolster the center position behind Jalen Duren, which has been a big issue. With the injury to Marvin Bagley III, and Nerlens Noel not proving viable, playing two bigs at the same time gets tough. Fans wondered why Isaiah Stewart and Duren weren’t playing together as much, so the addition of Wiseman could help.
To clarify, I'm saying that Duren would be the future starter and Wiseman — unless there's something changing — would be the backup. https://t.co/5KyeIRK0Ae

What the Health?
Dealing with the injuries to Piston big men would make me cautious to trade for Wiseman. Especially after the Bagley experience where talent hasn’t outweighed time missed. Why do this all over again, with someone younger, more injury prone, and not as proven? Wiseman has been averaging about seven points and 3.5 rebounds in 12.5 minutes a game, which has some NBA scouts doubting if he has what it takes. But if Weaver sees value in the former Number 2 overall pick, I’m inclined to give it a chance.
What’s Next
The Pistons play the San Antonio Spurs, Wednesday, February 10 at 7:00 PM.
