There are multiple ways to dress this boxing card as appetizing for the combat sports fanatic. Whether you agree or not that the card is loaded with “boxing” talent, the card provides talent none the less. Let’s briefly unpack this one, & tell you, why you SHOULD watch Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley on Showtime PPV.
Charles Conwell (-3300) vs Juan Carlos Rubio (+1200)
This card starts off with Detroit native, & undefeated Light Middleweight Charles Conwell (15-0) vs another undefeated fighter in Juan Carlos Rubio. Conwell is overcoming a bout with “survivors guilt” but not for the typical rags to riches reason. Charles “Bad News” Conwell is the boxer known for delivering the fatal knock out punch that ended the life of former professional boxer Patrick Day.
Tommy Fury (-1600) vs Anthony Taylor (+750)
The second fight of the night steps a bit more into the circus you probably expected in ordering this card. MMA, & Speak EZ vet Anthony “Pretty Boy” Taylor(0-0) takes on “Love Island” reality TV star Tommy Fury(6-0). Yes, Fury….as in the brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. A bit of a size difference in this matchup, as the 6’0″ Light Heavyweight Fury takes on the 5’7″ featherweight Anthony Taylor. What Taylor lacks in size he makes up for in mouth, & experience as Fury only has a 6-0 record against opponents collectively totaling 14 wins out of 165 fights.
Daniel Dubois (-3300) vs Joe Cusumano (+1200)
From there we move into a heavyweight matchup where knockouts are more common than decisions with Daniel Dubois (16-1) vs Jose Cusumano (19-3). The English Heavyweight Daniel Dubios looks to spread the awareness of his arrival to the heavyweight division in taking his first fight on American soil. However he admits Joe Cusumano posses the power to put that all to a halt.
Montana Love ( +145) vs Ivan Baranchyk (-185)
Cleveland native Montana Love returns to his hometown to fight former Champion Ivan Baranchyk at Super Lightweight. I’d expect a fast pace heavily skilled matchup between the two. If you’re a betting man I’d might even consider putting some money on the undefeated Montana Love.
Amanda Serrano (-2500) vs Yamileth Mercardo (+1000)
Amanda Serrano is the only female, and Puerto Rican, to win world titles in more than four weight classes. Some even consider her the best pound for pound female boxer due to the amount of finishes she posses. Don’t sleep on this fight as it is the co-main event for a reason. Amanda Serrano BRINGS IT. And there is a long rivaled history between Puerto Rican & Mexican boxers as Mexico’s Yamileth Mercardo moves up a weight class to take on the Champ.
Jake Paul (-200) vs Tyron Woodley (+160)
AND NOW! For your main event of the evening! Jake Paul the “Problem Child” steps into the ring against Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley! Two very polarizing figures in the combat sports community, & whether you like em’ or hate em’ odds are, you get to see BOTH OF THEM GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE!
Tyron Woodley is a 5 X UFC Welterweight Champion, & maybe even a UFC Hall of Famer one day. Throughout his MMA career Tryon has been known for his elite wrestling & devastating right hand. Tyron looks to make his professional boxing debut against the undefeated loud mouth “Problem Child” of Cleveland, Jake Paul.
Surprisingly enough 3 years into the boxing game makes the one-time youtuber & Disney Channel star more experienced in the ring than the former world champ. Make your judgement on him how you want but Jake also has knocked out every single one of his opponents. The kid has power, and let his coach BJ Flores tell it, he has technique, & grit too. Like or not Jake Paul is amongst the top earners in the sport of boxing at just 3 fights in, but Tyron Woodley is his first true test to see if that fact will remain!
