In a clash of last place teams on Friday night, the Detroit Pistons couldn’t quite pull off the win, losing 121-115 to the Houston Rockets.
Though both teams currently occupy the last place in their respective conferences, the Pistons and Rockets put on an intense display that harkened back to the days of Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley. The throwback atmosphere was heightened by the Rockets donning their classic pinstripe jerseys at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Balanced Pistons Offense Not Enough
Detroit showcased an evenly distributed offensive effort, with seven players reaching double figures. Jaden Ivey led the way, delivering an impressive 18 points and nine assists. Marvin Bagley III topped the Pistons’ scoring with 21 points in 34 minutes, while Jalen Duren notched another double-double, contributing 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Green and Porter Jr. Propel Rockets to Victory
Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. channeled the spirit of Steve “The Franchise” Francis and Cuttino Mobley, propelling the Rockets to victory. Porter Jr. scored a team-high 33 points, while Green added 32 points and five assists. Jabari Smith Jr. also had a noteworthy performance, securing a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. In total, five Rockets players scored in double digits.
Pistons Look to Bounce Back in Orlando
The Pistons’ next challenge awaits in Orlando, where they’ll face Paolo Banchero and the Magic on Sunday. The game tips off at 6:00 pm.
