Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley has been a polarizing topic in the combat sports community. Many have found the event to be a mockery of the sport of boxing. However after spending some time with both camps, as well with the coaches & fighters from the under card I think it’s the opposite. You’d even hear that same sentiment echoed by the head trainer of Jake Paul’s opponent Tyron Woodley. Coach Gerald Tucker AKA GT told us point blank when asked “I think he’s great for boxing.” as he went on to explain how the 24 year old one-time youtuber is bringing more eyes to the sport, & money to the sport & it’s athletes.
Gerald Tucker on Jake Paul
The conversation with Coach Tucker was just one example of good Jake Paul has brought to the sport. You find more good when it comes to the fighters on his team & undercard.
One-time rival of Jake Paul, Anthony “Pretty Boy” Taylor stated that Jake Paul has changed his life. Putting him on this card & affording him this opportunity. A statement in which I was taken back by, given my first conversation with Anthony back in March ahead of Paul’s fight against Ben Askren.
The praises continued throughout the Paul vs Woodley press conference. As co-main event star & Champion Amanda Serrano thanked Paul for the same opportunity to showcase her talents in front of broader audience. She thanked him for both her self & women’s boxing. Throughout the press conference every fighter on the under card made sure to thank Paul for the opportunity to steal his fans.
