The name Alim McNeill is buzzing across the country. The Detroit Lions defensive lineman has caught attention. Alim is highlighted as one of the players across the NFL to have a “breakout season.”
On September 1st, Peter Schrager announced his Top 10 Breakout Players of the 2022 season on his show, Good Morning Football. McNeill not only made this list, but was listed at number 4, only behind Javonte Williams, Nick Bolton and Christian Darrisaw.

Schrager praised McNeill saying, “This guy’s about to have a huge breakout season.” He details that McNeill “Has put on a ton of weight, he doesn’t mess around. If you look at him, if you watch this guy, he is a big man looking to make big plays this season.” He also mentions Hard Knocks saying “Alim McNeill quietly, away from the NFL Films cameras, has been having an outstanding summer.”

Alim McNeill and the Detroit Lions
McNeill was a 3rd round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He had a solid rookie season playing in 17 games with six starts. In those games, he recorded an impressive 39 tackles and 2 sacks. Although, he recently got acclaim by Colts’ media during joint practices in Indianapolis during training camp.
McNeill is definitely going to be someone to look out for. Additionally, Schrager warns, “Lions fans, you have no idea how good this guy is going to be.”
