Troy Weaver is leaving no stones unturned in the Detroit Pistons head coaching search. He has added Jerome Allen to the ever growing list of candidates for the franchises position of head coach as reported by Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports.
The Detroit Pistons will interview assistant Jerome Allen this week, sources tell @YahooSports. Allen has spent time with Detroit with Dwane Casey and Boston on Brad Stevens’ staffs. Highly-regarded amongst players in both organizations

Allen comes with a lot of experience spending time as an assistant under well respected NBA head coaches. He had the opportunity to help stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown while on Brad Stevens’ Boston Celtics staff. His reputation among Celtics players made him an attractive hire by Dwane Casey and the Pistons in 2021.
“Pooh is going to be great there,” Tatum said, using one of Allen’s nicknames. “He just wants to have an impact and help you get better.”
Tatum further noted he “can connect with anybody, from the star player to the 15th man on the bench.”
Marcus Smart, Celtics defensive guru, talked glowingly of Allen as well.
“He’s always going to hold you accountable and he’s always going to hold himself accountable,” Smart said. “You can trust that whatever he’s telling you, he means it. And he’s saying it to help you.”

Others on Troy Weaver’s Radar
Troy Weaver has requested to interview several other NBA assistant head coaches from the Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, and others.
A couple days after it was reported the Pistons would be interviewing NBA assistants Kevin Ollie, Charles Lee, Adrian Griffin and Chris Quinn, more candidates were announced.
Weaver has requested an interview with Nets assistant Brian Keefe — reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Keefe worked with Weaver previously during his time as an assistant coach on the OKC Thunder staff. He also spent time on the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers coaching staffs.
How are you feeling about the candidates so far?

While Woj was breaking the Keefe news, his nemesis reported the Pistons were also inviting New Orleans Pelicans assistant Jarron Collins to the party.
Like Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Collins brings championship winning experience from his time with the Golden Sate Warriors. He has three championships from his time under Steve Kerrs tutelage.
Troy Weaver on pace to interview every NBA assistant to make sure he gets this hire right and I’m here for it.
