The Detroit Lions (3-3) are coming off a dramatic win against the awful Atlanta Falcons (1-6). Now in pole position to have their first winning record at this point in the season since October 2014. Detroit will have to beat the Indianapolis Colts (4-2).
Vegas Likes Indianapolis
MGM Bet have the Colts (-2.5) as favorites against against the Detroit Lions. It’s no surprise from an oddsmakers standpoint, but I disagree on the line. I’m not sure what to expect from the Colts on Sunday. It could be a very dominant, well-organized football team, or they could hand Detroit the game.
We’ve seen the Detroit Lions formula for success over the last 4 weeks. Run a balanced play-calling sheet, control the clock and limit turnovers. If Detroit isn’t able to assert themselves early and throw off the Colts rhythm, this game very well could end with a Colts victory. The Colts are only 28th in the leagues Rushing rankings. There’s nothing “Great” about this team, but they “good” position players and are well coached. It’ll be a chess match on Sunday.
Detroit Must Force Turnovers
The Detroit Lions MUST force turnovers if they want to win on Sunday. Detroit’s key to winning the football game is putting pressure on the Colts to throw the football more than they’d like. Philip Rivers is prone to turnovers, and Detroit must make him uncomfortable. If they do, the Colts could be in for a long day.
Detroit’s Offense Will Stand Out
This is a tricky matchup, with the Colts holding one of the best defensive records in the league. Giving up only 19.5 points per game will put the emerging Detroit offense to the test. I expect the Detroit Lions run game to give the Colts front-seven problems, but where Detroit will expose the Indianapolis Colts will be through the air.
Expect Matthew Stafford to throw for over 300 yards for the second-straight week. This weeks sleeper will be Marvin Jones, I predict his stat-line will be 7 Catches 112 Yards and 2 Touchdowns. If you’re looking for a sleeper wideout this weekend, Jones is your man.
Prediction: Detroit Lions 33-24 Indianapolis Colts
