The Detroit Lions dropped a close finish to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day, snapping their three-game winning streak. The game was back and forth throughout its entirety, but in the end, the Bills were able to steal the win 28 to 25.
Despite the loss, the Lions came to play today, and they put on a great performance. While they couldn’t quite get the win, it’s become obvious that this team is significantly different from the team that started the season. Dan Campbell shared his thoughts on the loss after the game today.
“You’ve got to show up every week, man. You’ve got to be loaded, locked in, mentally focused, urgent, everything – or you’ll get beat. And when you play a team like this, you don’t have to be perfect, but you’ve got to be pretty close. And we weren’t quite able to do that today, but we hung in there and we battled. But I still know – I know we’re getting better. And I still walk away from this, I’m frustrated because I hate losing – we all do, but yet, I also know we got a little better today. We just did, so that’s how I feel.”
Twitter Reactions
A loss, of course, has Lions fans up in arms about the “same old Lions.” Here’s some of the reactions that were posted on Twitter:
@tonyromo Thank you for your kind words about my @Lions. But we’re not close to “being back”. I’m a lifelong fan. I’ve seen how this plays out. Just know the heart break is real. And we deserve better. #OnePride #MikeAllenSports #tiredlionsfan #BUFvsDET

a comforting thing about thanksgiving is that no matter how much the world changes, we’ll always have the same old lions

I wore a “Same Old Lions” T-shirt to work today. During the game I walk into the ATC break room.
ATC guys: “They’re playing good.”
Me: “For now”
Game ends. I walk into the break room.
ATC: “It’s like you knew something like that would happen.”

S.O.L. Same Old Lions. My least favorite Thanksgiving tradition.

I will forever be flabbergasted by that Lions two minute drive. Game-losing clock management.
