Detroit Lions’ safety and captain, Tracy Walker, has confirmed he tore his Achilles and is out for the remainder of the season.
The injury happened in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. It was a non-contact injury. He was helped off the field, carted to the locker room, and did not return.
After the game, Dan Campbell gave an update on Walker, saying, “It doesn’t look real good.”
The news broke this morning that it was, in fact, an Achilles tear. Shortly after, Walker took to his own Twitter confirming the news.
I appreciate all the support from my fans and friends. It is true that I tore my Achilles and I’m done for the season but I’ll bounce back and be better then ever for the following years to come. TTIME will be back‼️

This is a major hit for the Lions’ defense. The Detroit Lions lost two key defensive players last season due to Achilles tendon injuries. Juju Hughes replaced Walker in the game Sunday. Ifeatu Melifonwu and Kerby Joseph could also be potential replacements.
The injury comes at a rather inconvenient time, as Walker just welcomed his newborn child, Cinco, to the world earlier this week.
