Today, Cade Cunningham spoke to the national media. Cunningham is ranked the number one prospect coming out of the 2021 NBA Draft Class. The team that owns the number one pick in the draft are the Detroit Pistons.
Cade talks about the Pistons
Cunningham discussed his thoughts on the Pistons as an organization.
A reporter asked a question on why the only team he met with was the Pistons. He stated, “I wanted to meet with the team that had the No. 1 pick because I feel like I’m the No. 1 pick.”
Also, Cunningham brought up the possibility of playing alongside Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart. “Isaiah Stewart and Saddiq Bey were on the all-rookie team. That’s a direct reflection of what the staff was able to do with them.”
On the court, Cunningham is known for being a ball-dominant player. The Pistons are an unselfish team with the ball. When Cunningham was asked a question about playing off the ball. He answered, “I could. Wherever I get placed, I’ll find ways to be effective and impact the game for my squad. When I got in to training camp, I’m going to go in and play my game and be made.”
Cunningham talked briefly about how terrific the Pistons are as a organization on his visit. “The organization has a lot of great people within it. Starts with the owners. Troy Weaver is a great GM. I learned a lot on my visit. If they take me, I’ll be happy to be there.”
Cunningham’s Love for Detroit
Throughout his press conference, Cunningham was fully embracing the city of Detroit. He even talked about famous rappers from Detroit including 42 Dugg and Babyface Ray.
Pistons Fans can’t wait any longer for Cunningham to arrive. He has “Goin to Work” hustle on the floor and a chip on the shoulder mentality. The NBA Draft takes places on Thursday July 29th.
