With the release of Adrian Peterson, Antonio Gibson of the Washington Football Team moves from sleeper to starter.
I’ve been high on Antonio Gibson since before the NFL draft. If you check our Dynasty Fantasy Football Rankings you will see we had him in the Top 20, then moved him into the Top 15 Rookies after the release of Derrius Guice. Now The Washington Football Team has released veteran RB Adrian Peterson. Meaning Ill have to adjust the rankings again!
Gibson was an absolute stud at Memphis. He was used as a hybrid Running Back and Wide Receiver. When he got the ball in his hands he was explosive. He scored a TD on 17% of his carries. He averaged 15.5 Yards a carry and had over 1000 yards on just 71 carries. Receiving wise he was just as dangerous. 4 TD’s on 38 Receptions, 19.3 yards per catch and 735 yards.
When Antonio Gibson was drafted Ron Rivera compares him to Christian McCaffery. That is some high praise but I assumed he would be the 3rd guy on the depth chart to at least start the season. Not any more! He will be the Day 1 starter for Washington. In an offense that loves to throw the ball to its RB’s and get them touches. Last year McCaffery had 400 touches. 400 is insane.
Antonio Gibson and Fantasy Football
If he comes close to what McCaffery was doing in that offense he will be a Top 10 guy. Not just in Rookie Drafts but in the entire NFL. I would easily move him into my Top 20 RBs this year before we even see him on the field. Keep an eye out for Antonio Gibson. He will be a stud this year.
