The Detroit Pistons made multiple moves during the offseason.
First, the Pistons selected Cade Cunningham with the first overall pick in the draft. While in the second round, the Pistons drafted Isaiah Livers, Frank Garza, and Balsa Koprivica.
During free agency, the Pistons signed Kelly Olynyk and Tre Lyles. Also, the Pistons resigned Saben Lee, Rodney Mcgruder, and Frank Jackson.
While all of these moves are positive towards GM Troy Weaver’s mission to restore the franchise. Many are now wondering what the potential starting lineup could look like on opening night. Here is my prediction the Pistons starting lineup on opening night.
My Prediction for the Starting Lineup
Here is my prediction for the Pistons starting lineup.
- Point Guard- Killian Hayes
- Shooting Guard- Cade Cunningham
- Small Forward- Saddiq Bey
- Power Forward- Jerami Grant
- Center- Kelly Olynyk
Why I left out Isaiah Stewart?
Many of you are wondering why I chose Kelly Olynyk in the starting lineup over Isaiah Stewart.
My first reason is that Olynyk has more experience than Stewart. Olynyk has played in crucial games in the Eastern Conference Finals and Finals. Having a player like Olynyk on the floor gives the young guys more confidence to have a player they could look up to on the floor.
Another reason why Olynyk should start over Stewart is that Olynyk is stronger than Stewart.
Not trying to knock Stewart here, but when I saw him in person last season. He was getting bullied down in the paint against some of the biggest stars in the game.
In my opinion, I feel Stewart is made to be in power forward for now. Suppose he gains weight and is stronger throughout these next couple of seasons. Then in the future, Stewart could be the starting center for the Pistons. But for now, I see Olynyk starting over Stewart on opening night.
