The Warriors trading James Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons is beginning to look like a golden mistake. And if you ask the team owner Joe Lacob, he may already know the fate of the deal. He expressed how difficult and “hard” a decision it was in an interview with Tim Kawakami of the Athletic.

“You know, we might very well regret that one, longer term or even intermediate term,” Lacob told Kawakami. “But as much as I love the guy, I can’t overrule what our basketball ops and our coaches and our players felt was the right thing to do.

“I think James is a really good young player, and we’re not going to get many opportunities to draft a young guy like that again.”

That’s a huge endorsement for Wiseman, a player many Pistons fans weren’t as zealous for initially. But Wiseman has made the best of his new opportunity and hopes it leads to winning soon. He said it “feels good” to be playing well individually, but “just wants to win”, which should be welcome news to all ears.

Proving Weaver and Lacob Right

When trading for Wiseman, Troy Weaver knew the team needed size and defensive presence in the front court. After losing games to teams like the Celtics and Cavaliers, Weaver knew something had to be done. But the Pistons may have gotten more than originally bargained for in the former Warrior.

Since being traded to the Pistons, Wiseman has averaged 12.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting over 60%from the field. And his last three games should have you salivating with an impressive 16.3 PPG, 8.3 APG, 2 BPG.

TWO BLOCKS PER GAME FOR A PISTONS BIG!

I might love the blocks more than anything, except Wiseman’s desire to win and prove he belongs.
